The test detects the Giardia lamblia antigen in a stool sample and is suitable for both dogs and cats.

What is Giardia?

Giardia is an intestinal parasite that can cause diarrhea, loose stools, stomach upset, weight loss and general malaise, especially in puppies, young animals and pets with sensitive stomachs. The infection can sometimes also be asymptomatic, in which case the animal can spread the parasite without realizing it. Giardia is transmitted from animal to animal, for example through contaminated water, the environment or feces. Giardia is one of the most common causes of diarrhea in dogs and cats, especially in puppyhood.

If your pet has prolonged diarrhea, loose stools, or stomach upset, a giardia test can help determine if further testing or a visit to the veterinarian is necessary.

How the Giardia test works

The Giardia test is based on lateral flow immunochromatographic technology that identifies the Giardia lamblia antigen in a stool sample.

• Only control line (C) appears
